Amigo is a donkey/burro who was born in southern California to a huge herd of wild burros. He was rounded up by the Bueuro of Land Management and taken to an auction facility in South Carolina. Amigo was able to remain calm and grounded through the many life changes he endured. Mary Miller-Jordan could feel the light of Amigo and the I AM within him at the auction and welcomed him into the herd. Amigo is Spanish for “friend”, and this name suits him perfectly. One of the many reasons donkeys/burros are so interesting is because they are known to stand their ground. Amigo is a sweet soul who is very grounded, not only in himself but in his values, too. When he sees a need to stand up for somebody else in order to maintain peace within the herd, he will take measures to ensure everyone feels they belong. Nothing rocks his peace, even adversity. He has come a long way since his wild California days and lives in harmony with the herd.

Amigo is now building his Sponsor Team and is in need of his first Sponsor. Each Sponsorship is a $50 monthly commitment that goes directly to Amigo’s care. Or a business can sponsor Amigo In Full for $350 per month, to make up his entire sponsorship team. We are a non-profit and count on public support to care for this herd and offer our Mustang assisted Wellness Programs to those in need. Sponsors receive a professional print on archival paper of your sponsored horse as well as updates from Amigo throughout the year!

No photo description available. Here Amigo can be seen standing his ground and planting roots of peace and kindness amongst his friends in the Mustang herd. He quickly became close to the soul sisters and was present for the birth of both of their baby boys, the soul brothers. Both soul brothers loved to play with, jump on, and chew on Amigo’s tail and ears. It is who Amigo is to hold a precious space of Peace in the midst of any reality. It matters not if his surroundings are chaotic or full of serenity – his inner Wild I AM of Peace is steadfast. This peace within is one of the reasons Amigo can befriend anyone.

Amigo now lives with the Pony herd and has been welcomed and befriended by Sahaja, Squirt, and Rico. Shortly after, he became a large part of the welcoming for I AM HERDs pony additions, Love, Light, Shanti, and Karuna. Amigo truly is a friend to all and enjoys spending time with his companions in the pony herd. Amigo also loves hay, especially to be one with the hay! This picture above shows Amigo’s wonderfully large burro ears poking out from behind this pile of hay while the rest of the pony herd grazes alongside him. Can you spot Amigo?

Not only is amigo a friend to others within the herd he also enjoys befriending humans, too. He can often be seen coming up to the fence line for scratches and head rubs from volunteers, like this photo above! Amigo is enjoying his one-on-one time, with I AM HERD volunteer, Mary Dumes-Tejeda. Of course, his favorite individual to hang out with is a miniature donkey Aural, his girlfriend! Aural and Amigo can often be found grazing together in the pasture and enjoying each other’s company, much like the picture above in which they are cuddling. They have a bond that is very strong.

Amigo is in need of Sponsorship. If you feel a connection to Amigo it would be our honor for you to amplify that connection by a direct contribution to his care.

Sponsoring an I AM HERD horse or pony is one of the most supportive things you can do for our work and mission. And the most amazing part is the way it truly connects the Caregiver TO the horse or pony they are Sponsoring! These wild ones just know and they are so grateful for Your help!

As your first Gift of Gratitude for your Sponsorship, we will mail professional print on archival paper of your sponsored horse! We send out additional Gifts of Gratitude throughout the year, and send you personal updates from Amigo!

Above all, you will know that your donation ensures that we can provide the best of care to this wild one that you feel a connection to. Sponsorships are a monthly donation of $50, the cost of a bale of hay, and are a one year commitment. You may opt to have your monthly donation withdrawn automatically or you may pay in full for the year either via check or online credit card. The annual commitment begins the month you begin your Sponsorship (so a Sponsorship initiated in Feb 2020 will run through Feb 2021)

Blessings from this herd to your heart, there is truly a wild horse in all hearts that are drawn to them ~
