Brave is a wild Mustang from Nevada, whose mother was rounded up by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and placed in holding. Brave was born in the holding facility and only knew wild Nevada from his lineage and from the womb. His story is one of finding resilience and peace within. Brave is one of our first rehabilitation Mustangs. He was at a BLM wild Mustang adoption in May of 2013 at two years old. When we first saw him it was obvious he was picked on by the other horses in holding, as he was covered in scabs and was so very thin. As the other horses started to get adopted, Brave was passed over again and again. We simply had to adopt him and bring him home. And so we did! He does so love his life in the sanctuary herd and loves to connect with humans energetically during Mustang Meditations.

Brave is now building his Sponsor Team and is in need of his first Sponsor. Each Sponsorship is a $50 monthly commitment that goes directly to Brave’s care. Or a business can sponsor Brave In Full for $350 per month, to make up his entire sponsorship team. We are a non-profit and count on public support to care for this herd and offer our Mustang assisted Wellness Programs to those in need. Sponsors receive a professional print on archival paper of your sponsored horse as well as updates from Brave throughout the year!

The picture above is from January of 2019. Brave is sleeping beside one of his best friends, Silver Lining. You can see the happiness and peace radiating off of Brave, finally free to be himself in a place where he is accepted, loved, and feels he belongs. Brave’s name comes from how he is brave enough to be that which he already is. He came from a place in which other horses bullied and harmed him, but found resilience and peace within to try and make connections with the new herd at our Mustang Sanctuary he found himself a part of.

As pictured above, you can see Brave has been circled and is running with the herd. To the right of the photo, you can see he is also close with the soul brothers and soul sisters, finding a spot in their family. Something Brave always wanted has been found here at I AM HERD, both acceptance, and belonging.

Brave has proven to be a unique Mustang that has really held onto his fear of the human world more than most. But, he does appreciate a loving touch every once in a while. As seen above, Mary Miller-Jordan offers a loving touch, which brave is happy and curious to check out. At I AM HERD, the Mustang’s wellbeing and desires are of our utmost importance. For Brave, we respect the wildness he has inside and enjoy watching him find his belonging in other horses and foster relationships with them. He will always have a forever home here with us, and we are so thankful to have him.

Brave is in need of Sponsorship. If you feel a connection to Brave it would be our honor for you to amplify that connection by a direct contribution to his care.

Sponsoring an I AM HERD horse or pony is one of the most supportive things you can do for our work and mission. And the most amazing part is the way it truly connects the Caregiver TO the horse or pony they are Sponsoring! These wild ones just know and they are so grateful for Your help!

As your first Gift of Gratitude for your Sponsorship, we will mail professional print on archival paper of your sponsored horse! We send out additional Gifts of Gratitude throughout the year, and send you personal updates from Brave!

Above all, you will know that your donation ensures that we can provide the best of care to this wild one that you feel a connection to. Sponsorships are a monthly donation of $50, the cost of a bale of hay, and are a one year commitment. You may opt to have your monthly donation withdrawn automatically or you may pay in full for the year either via check or online credit card. The annual commitment begins the month you begin your Sponsorship (so a Sponsorship initiated in Feb 2020 will run through Feb 2021)

Blessings from this herd to your heart, there is truly a wild horse in all hearts that are drawn to them ~
