Dance is a wild Mustang who has a unique story of perseverance to find belonging and a true and safe home. He is the 5th Mustang adoption by I AM HERD, and one of our first rehabilitation cases. Dance was originally adopted out by the Beuro of Land Management (BLM). He went from one home to the next, and at one point lived in a cow pasture. It seemed that Dance was on the move from one place to another, in search of a safe place to call home. Eventually, he ended up at an auction site, where we were able to adopt him and bring him home. Dance has a strength from within that is full of courage and bravery to face his fears and overcome any obstacles. Much of his resilience stems from the wild Mustang within! Dance is a wonderful addition to the herd and has found safety and comfort in his fellow Mustang companions. He still loves to be wild and he knows that he can be himself in this herd, where he has a forever home and no one will give up on him again.

Dance is now building his Sponsor Team and is in need of his first Sponsor. Each Sponsorship is a $50 monthly commitment that goes directly to Dance’s care. Or a business can sponsor Dance In Full for $350 per month, to make up his entire sponsorship team. We are a non-profit and count on public support to care for this herd and offer our Mustang assisted Wellness Programs to those in need. Sponsors receive a professional print on archival paper of your sponsored horse as well as updates from Dance throughout the year!

Dance’s story is one that shows the strength he has within. He was first adopted out with another Mustang by the BLM. This first home outside of the wild was unable to gentle him in a way that he felt safe and could trust people. When this individual became ill, a cattle farmer agreed to take both Dance and his mustang companion in to live with cows out in a pasture. But, this was not the right home for either Mustang. In many ways, Dance still wanted to be wild and was not given the opportunity to see he could trust others. Time and time again, people gave up on both wild Mustangs, until eventually, the cattle farmer took them to an auction site. A friend of I AM HERD, brought Dance to our attention because she was planning on adopting his Mustang friend. We knew Dance belonged here on the sanctuary land, where he would never be given up on again. It took courage for Dance to trust that his new home would be one of acceptance and belonging. A home that is different than the others he had before, as it provides safety and love forever.

Dance was close to our dear Mustang Colors. They are seen here together in a ridding competition. While he has been gentled to trust humans and feel safe with Mary Miller-Jordan, I AM HERD honors the wild spirit Dance has and he has since been retired from competitions to spend his days enjoying the freedoms our sanctuary offers.

The wild heart inside Dance lives on, and we honor that by letting him live out his days in peace with the rest of his friends in the big herd. This story is one that shows everyone and every Mustang deserves and desires a home that will accept all parts of them, including the best and most real pieces – the wild ones!

Dance is in need of Sponsorship. If you feel a connection to Dance it would be our honor for you to amplify that connection by a direct contribution to his care.

Sponsoring an I AM HERD horse or pony is one of the most supportive things you can do for our work and mission. And the most amazing part is the way it truly connects the Caregiver TO the horse or pony they are Sponsoring! These wild ones just know and they are so grateful for Your help!

As your first Gift of Gratitude for your Sponsorship, we will mail professional print on archival paper of your sponsored horse! We send out additional Gifts of Gratitude throughout the year, and send you personal updates from Dance!

Above all, you will know that your donation ensures that we can provide the best of care to this wild one that you feel a connection to. Sponsorships are a monthly donation of $50, the cost of a bale of hay, and are a one year commitment. You may opt to have your monthly donation withdrawn automatically or you may pay in full for the year either via check or online credit card. The annual commitment begins the month you begin your Sponsorship (so a Sponsorship initiated in Feb 2020 will run through Feb 2021)

Blessings from this herd to your heart, there is truly a wild horse in all hearts that are drawn to them ~
