Magic is truly magical indeed. Born wild in the South Steens of Oregon, rounded up by the BLM and later adopted by Mary in 2012. Magic is a regular at our I AM HERD Mustang Mentorship & Meditation school visits, a right hand to her BFF Mustang Sueño. She is a gorgeous buckskin pinto and is deeply sensitive and empathetic by nature, preferring to stand back from the Mustang herd most of the time, but quick to reach out to humans that she feels an open-hearted connection with.
Magic is now building her Sponsor Team and is in need of her first Sponsor. Each Sponsorship is a $50 monthly commitment that goes directly to Magic’s care. Or a business can sponsor Magic In Full for $350 per month, to make up her entire sponsorship team. We are a non-profit and count on public support to care for this herd and offer our Mustang assisted Wellness Programs to those in need. Sponsors receive a professional print on archival paper of your sponsored horse as well as updates from Magic throughout the year!

Magic was rounded up from the wild by the BLM as a two year old, but her mother, Issa, and her father, Paco, stayed wild and had many more babies, including a stunning black and white pinto named Gabriella. Gabriella was later rounded by BLM as well and she too has a forever home at I AM HERD, along with her baby, Issabella, Magic’s niece who looks amazingly like her grandmother, Issa! Thankfully, their parents, Issa and Paco are still in the wild, living on the South Steens mountain today.
My journey in gentling Magic was different than some of the others. She was very aggressive at first and seemed truly resentful that she was with me and not with her herd in the wild. When I found these amazing images of her in her home land, I could see why. What a family she had there. How hard it must have been to leave.
Over time she did begin to accept me and at some magical point in Time-Space that I cannot quite place my finger upon – we feel in love. Truly. There is a deep love I feel from this amazing Mustang that is different than the rest. It is so pure, so deep, so real. Magic is a very sensitive soul. One would not have guessed it those early days when she would charge and try to bite, but all of that was simply a desperate attempt to hide her fear that welled up so deeply within. Her fear of me. Her fear of this human reality. Her fear of all that she did not yet know. … and I can understand that fear. The fear of the unknown swells up within me as well. But with the connection that Magic now shares with me, it serves as such steadfast proof that there is much more on the other side of my fears than I can possibly know. Much more beauty within me, just waited to grow.
Magic’s sensitivity and beauty have helped her become a favorite at our Mustang Mentorship & Meditation programs. Young girls seem especially drawn to her, seeing beauty in her that they cannot yet see in themselves. Yet she is a mirror, to that which exists within them as well. Magic helps them see the mirror.

Magic has her first Sponsor, but is in need of her remaining Sponsors to create her full Sponsor Team!
Sponsoring an I AM HERD horse or pony is one of the most supportive things you can do for our work and mission. And the most amazing part is the way it truly connects the Caregiver TO the horse or pony they are Sponsoring! These wild ones just know and they are so grateful for Your help!
As a Gift of Gratitude for your Sponsorship, we will mail professional print on archival paper of your sponsored horse! We send out additional Gifts of Gratitude throughout the year as well as send you personal updates from your horse or pony!
Above all, you will know that your donation ensures that we can provide the best of care to this wild one that you feel a connection to. Sponsorships are a monthly donation of $50, the cost of a bale of hay, and are a one year commitment. You may opt to have your monthly donation withdrawn automatically or you may pay in full for the year either via check or online credit card. The annual commitment begins the month you begin your Sponsorship (so a Sponsorship initiated in Feb 2020 will run through Feb 2021)
Blessings from this herd to your heart, there is truly a wild horse in all hearts that are drawn to them ~
