Rox is a wonderful domestic horse that was bred to be a paint horse or a horse with big white spots. Instead, she came out a beautiful complete brown and is a force to be reckoned with. Her original family put Rox up for free adoption, as they did not want an all-brown horse. Many people wanted her, but none could get her into a trailer to take her home because she was afraid to get in them. Some individuals were cruel and used force, so her owner decided that she could stay until somebody was able to kindly adopt her. Luckily, Mary Miller-Jordan heard of the horse everybody wanted but couldn’t have and respected Rox’s horse trailer fears. Instead of forcing her into a trailer, Mary walked her to the I Am Herd sanctuary alongside a fellow horse friend. Rox’s story is one that is often used in I AM HERDs wellness programming as an example to show how Rox knew Mary was a friend, and what embodies a loving friend.
Rox is in need of sponsorship! We are dedicated to offering her a forever home at I AM HERD, but as a non-profit we count on public support to care for these Mustangs and do the work that we do. Do you feel a connection to this wildly loving Mustang? If so, would you become a Rox Sponsor?
Read on to learn more of her story …
This wonderful domestic horse that was bred to be full of color, yet came out plain brown. The one that refused to load on the trailer for the long row of people that she was ‘given away’ to … only to be hand walked home to this very sanctuary way back before it was even called a sanctuary. Rox’s story is one of choice and freedom. She made this land her sanctuary then and she paved the way for every Mustang that lives here now. She has many friends, and in the picture above she is taking a “selfie” with many of her friends in the big Mustang herd. Rox is to the far right with the large white spot on her forehead. Rox shows us that freedom can come from within, and we are so glad to have her here with us and apart of our sanctuary family.
Rox is in need of Sponsorship. If you feel a connection to Rox it would be our honor for you to amplify that connection by a direct contribution to her care.
Sponsoring an I AM HERD horse or pony is one of the most supportive things you can do for our work and mission. And the most amazing part is the way it truly connects the Caregiver TO the horse or pony they are Sponsoring! These wild ones just know and they are so grateful for Your help!
As a Gift of Gratitude for your Sponsorship, we will mail you a handmade doll in the likeness of your horse or pony! Along with a custom Mustang Mala that is a necklace for the doll and a bracelet for you! We send out additional Gifts of Gratitude throughout the year as well as send you personal updates from your horse or pony!
Above all, you will know that your donation ensures that we can provide the best of care to this wild one that you feel a connection to. Sponsorships are a monthly donation of $50, the cost of a bale of hay, and are a one year commitment. You may opt to have your monthly donation withdrawn automatically or you may pay in full for the year either via check or online credit card. The annual commitment begins the month you begin your Sponsorship (so a Sponsorship initiated in Feb 2020 will run through Feb 2021)
Blessings from this herd to your heart, there is truly a wild horse in all hearts that are drawn to them ~
